In October of 1995, Jeff Sciortino organized the Lindy Hop Dance Jam at Pyramid Arts Center with Sue Leurgans and Beth Fischer. They started the Jam as an opportunity to practice, trade steps and knowledge, communicate, and just dance with each other. The Jam eventually moved to the Coop Sunken Room and then to DancEncounters.
In September 2006, Lindy Jam moved to its new home, the Tango Cafe dance studio and ballroom, located at 389 Gregory Street. Jeff has long since moved away, but the tradition he began still lives on! Today dancers are still meeting and having a great time, keeping the Lindy Hop spirit alive in the Rochester area.
